Digital Dental X-Rays
Some dental problems simply cannot be seen by looking in the mouth.
Digital dental X-rays allow our team to examine teeth, roots, bone and areas between teeth that are not fully visible during a clinical examination.
How Do Digital Dental X-Rays Work?
Instead of traditional film, digital X-rays use an electronic sensor to capture the image. The image appears on a computer screen almost immediately, where it can be enlarged and reviewed during your appointment.
What Can Dental X-Rays Show?
Depending on the type of image taken, dental X-rays can help identify or evaluate:
decay between teeth
the roots of teeth
bone surrounding the teeth
impacted or unerupted teeth
infections
existing fillings, crowns and other restorations
dental implant sites
other changes that may not be visible during a routine examination
How Often Do I Need Dental X-Rays?
Not everyone needs X-rays on the same schedule. The frequency and type of image depend on your age, oral health, dental history, cavity risk and the problem being investigated. We take diagnostic images when they are useful to your care rather than simply because a fixed amount of time has passed.

Can I get a copy of my X-rays?
Yes. We can send digital X-rays securely to you or a specialist.
Are X-rays safe for children?
Yes, when taken only as needed. Children’s X-rays use settings adjusted for their size.
